DIY: Front Carrier for Touring Bike

I began to make the front carrier for the touring bike. I choose 6 mm diameter stainless steel pipe material of JPY 390 at DIY store. The first step is processing a pipe bends for beautifully. I referred to a book and Web, and I bent little by little, roasting a pipe with a gas burner.

I assembled National Randione for my wife temporarily because I got almost parts. I couldn't perfect polished all parts but you can see clean because photograph. Still not fix the bar tape. Cotton tape and vanish are better to much this touring bike.

This crank was attached to Randione.
A lower photograph is before polishing.
Removing black paint suffered troubles.
All were deleted with the sandpaper.
And it polished by the compound.
It is a very rare 150-mm crank.
It is a Japanese-made brand called SUGINO.

Miyata Vintage Sports Bike Restoration & Building

I got the frame of the bicycle brand "MIYATA" representing Japan by Yahoo! Auctions. Also you can see MIYATA Industrial Co, Ltd. detail by Wikipedia. The price was 1,500 yen. The price was 4,400 yen including the shipping cost and the handling fee. I purchased this frame in August, last year. The color was red. The frame was very dirty from rust and oil. I dropped dirt and rust using the sandpaper of No. 600. If a frame is deleted, the natural complexion of steel and a white surfacer can be seen. I was going to polish and paint only a rust portion at the beginning. But, I am pleased with the remains of shaving like leopard spots. Therefore, I also deleted the portion which is not rusty and made the handle with sufficient balance. I flushed shaving powder with water. In polish work, powder disperses. Therefore, I became nakedness and ground in the bathroom. The bathroom was dyed pink with red powder and white powder. When shaving a steel pipe with a water resistant paper, if it deletes horizontally from length, gloss will come out. It is better to be rude in oil by hot water and the organic solvent, before oxidization starts. The surface of steel is good to wipe off water with a kitchen paper. The water which trespassed upon the inside of a frame is good to make it remove in a drier and sunlight. I blew twice the transparent lacquer spray purchased for 198 yen. Paint of the frame was completed. The drop handle was got from neighboring bicycle Schopp for nothing. The bicycle Schopp at whom I dropped in by chance reconditions and sells the thrown-away granny's bicycle. The drop handle neglected besides Schopp was said "I want you to sell" to the storekeeper. Then, the storekeeper yielded me the drop handle. The stem, the brake cable, the brake lever, and the bell were attached to the drop handle. I stripped the old bar tape. And the brake and others also removed. The handle had many corrosion and cracks. I polished the handlebar with the water resistant paper of No. 600. Then, the handlebar regained brightness, so that it was surprised.

Then, I am continuing restoration of National Randione. The parts of National Randione polished by the compound. THe brake levers, rear derailleur, front derailleur, stem, Side pull brakes. All components are made in Japan.

Bridgestone Eurasia Touring Restoration

Japanese company "Bridgestonen" famous for tire manufacture released "Eurasia" is a sport bicycle representing Japan. Eurasia was manufactured for about ten years after 1976. A frame is iron (although the quality of the material is stated as chromium molybdenum steel, it is not certain). I got the "Eurasia" touring frame made from 1981 or 1982 this time. It was status that we who were schoolchildren ride on the road bike of a drop handle those days. It began to be in fashion from the 19870s, and probably, the sport bicycle boom which reached the peak in the 1980s had profits, so that the tire company produced the bicycle. A sport bicycle called Bridgestonen "ROADMAN" in us the schoolchildren was yearning. For adults, the touring bicycle of this "Eurasia", Maruishi "Emperor" and Araya, or Miyata was famous at that time. I was charmed by the touring bicycle in an instant. Recently, I consider only the bicycle. The heart was taken from the masculinity in me by a motion and brightness of the machine parts.

I am planning the bicycle trip with my wife. I purchased the road bike frame cheap for myself at Yahoo! Auctions. A wife is short. Therefore, I looked for the road bike for children whose tire size is 24 inches for my wife. I was able to find the good grade road bike by Yahoo! Auctions. It is a Japanese-made bicycle called National Randione. Japanese people's leg is short. Therefore, a sheet tube is short and there are many frames with a long top tube. This National Randione was knocked down to me for 5,250 yen. The shipping cost was about 5,000 yen.

Review: KUWAHARA E.T. BMX KZ-01

I introduce favorite BMX bike. This BMX is same model of Eliot rides in the Steven Spielberg's movie "E.T." use the Japanese BMX brand KUWAHARA. Eliot model was red and white color but this new model have 3(blue, red, black and gold) cool color. price is about 500 USD.

DOPE EYE "DEAD BIKE"

The body of especially vicious lusterless black. The cheap cross bike bought on-line. It was dressed up with the sticker of DOPEEYE. The frame of this bike is iron. The handle grip was changed into the lime green of the scull design. In Japan, the frame of the iron is called chromium molybdenum. But, chromium molybdenum unites iron and carbon and is raising hardness. If a bicycle is hard, it will not absorb a shock. If it becomes an accident, a frame will break.
