Flyer Design: ROKURO Acoustic LIve at Cotton Dancer

This illustrated bear hanging the flag idea inspired from the Quick Silver, Ace of Cups, and Flamin Groovies LIve Poster by Family Dog in May 10-12 1968 at Avalon Ball Room. This is my respect poster for artist Bob Schnepf. And best regards to my precious client Cotton Dancer. Also dedicates to ROKURO from the DaDa Child. He is represent Rock'n'Roll artist of our south Japan. I enjoyed his live performance since 14 years. ROKURO organized big open air gathering for long time with last flyer's artist FUTARO. The gathering name was NIJI no MISAKI MATSURI (Rainbow Cape Festival). I loved and so enjoyed his peaceful, psychedelic, rastafarism, camping, natural, organic, and freedom festival.

Flyer and Poster Design: FUTARO Acoustic Live at Cotton Dancer

This is my latest Flyer and Poster design works. Size is A3 and A6, printed to the natural paper and cardboard paper printed by RISOGRAPH. The coloring is the fluorescence orange and the navy to the A3 poster, and the vermilion and navy to the A6 flyer. Imaged from the late 1960's Psychedelic posters and the modern old school Reggae and Dub posters, the album cover artworks and the flyers. The top's logo is the original style of handwriting which I processed and was designed. It is written as the FUTARO with the Japanese Chinese character. This Chinese character was simplified from the formal style of handwriting. And I am future-like a figure and gave the worn-out feeling by aging to this character. Since it is printed by RISOGRAPH, printing is reproduced by multiplication with glassiness. Therefore, the portion with which the color has overlapped was transparent and the back color has overlapped. I traced and drew his photograph whose illustration of an artist is a performer by the AI. FUTARO which is a performer is the Folk-Rock musician. I drew the fender tele caster's neck which he has always used regularly. The following is his profile.

 Futaro’s messages in his lyrics permeates in to changing the clock hand into slow flow with the beat over the music divide with warm ambient. He encourages gently people who live the time made closely packed. And the heart of the rich susceptibility sometimes throws social various inconsistencies and questions into relief, and tells the tragedy which man's ego produced. Just like a Bob Marley...

Flyer Design: Minami Masato Live at Cotton Dancer

This is my latest flyer design work for the Bar Cotton Dancer. I love the silk screen poster of a psychedelic movement which was in fashion late in the 60s. And I also like the propaganda poster of a communist country. By using the ink of the fluorescent color which employed the characteristic of the silk screen print efficiently, the psychedelic poster has heightened the eye catch effect. A psychedelic poster carries out the visualization of the hallucination by LSD, takes LSD, and can appreciate an art like a kaleidoscope like the mandala. The vision effect by LSD will not be acquired so much, since I created this flyer without taking LSD. Since I did not have the cost which makes a silk screen, I decided to utilize Risograph. Risograph is the printing machine which a Riso company made in Japan. It can print in a high speed, budget prices, and the special color like a laser beam printer. Risograph can use fluorescence pink and a fluorescence orange. Riding of ink is bad like Toppan Printing, and a photograph has the noise blurred like a newspaper. Since I had arranged the photograph of a deep color at the back, the color on the back was transparent and the surface logo portion failed in me. Paper is using the bad thin paper of quality like recycled paper, and became the result which has the flavor of tactile feeling coarsely in the bottom. Since it brews the feeling which is completely different from the printed matter of offset printing in a general coated paper in the present age, it becomes a good eye catch.

About Minami Masato
Masato Minami is an artist representing Japan of Folk-Rock. He reached 70 years old in born one in 1944. He is the keyman who visited America before the psychedelic movement and inherited the hippie culture to Japan. He is a singer whom the scenery that perform many live in Japan or Thailand and children are playing out in the fields under the tree suits very well. I am looking at his live from ten years or more before. "Niji no Misaki Matsuri" performed in Aso looked at his live first. I have appreciated his live at the festival since then every year, and was allowed to soften a feeling very much.

Flyer Design: Rock'n'Roll and Jump Blues Record Hop with Live Show!!

I designed this flier 14 years ago. It was the 6th anniversary party held with the restaurant & bar "King Kong" located in the shopping center in Kurosaki, Yahata-nishi-ku, Kitakyushu-City, Fukuoka. My friend was managing the restaurant & bar. I was taking charge of the advertising matter as a designer of his store under exclusive contract. I made many parties and calendars which he sponsors. My friend also owner of "King Kong" loves Rock'n'Roll and Jump Blues. I came out and came back to the trip where it wanders about Asia, 14 years ago. Calcutta in India bore a close resemblance to Britain of the 1950s. People's life, an attitude, and the vigor have just experienced the United States of the 1950s. It seemed that time travel was carried out just like a movie "Back to the future." And I imagined "Enchantment Under the Sea Dance" of the movie "Back to the Future", and this flyer designed it. Record hop and a live show are roaring business, and business had not declined yet in the local side after the collapse of the 'bubble' economy. In the floor, the young man danced Strohl (revue dance performed in a line of a female subject), Bop, Twist, and the jive which symbolize the 1950s, and got drunk wholly with the free drink.

Album Cover Design: Let the Guitar Speak by electro 53

I designed this album cover artwork this month. An album cover is the front of the packaging of a commercially released audio recording product, or album. This artwork made with my client also this album artist. My client given this guitar and amplifier photograph. I made front jacket including inside 2 pages and backside total 4 pages, rear jacket with backside (inside CD tray), side cap, and disc label. I made album title logo, artist logo, and record level logo. I'm very glad my client favorites this design. This pic is not real CD photo. I made crop and paste on blank CD image for finishing product image. I was cut the front jacket image pic with side cap same as rear jacket. It is not so difficulty make myself. I will introduce next time.

electro 53

Electro 53 is instrumental music unit by Takashi Gomi and Syuhei Onga. T-BOLAN's guitarist Takashi Gomi perform the electric guitar like a singing. He is my best client. Syuhei Onga playing base and sound programming. Their sound is the electronica rock. The electric guitar and the base added on the programming track.

Block Copy: an American Diner's Lunch Menu

This is the lunch menu of an American diner which I operated. It finished in the style of a vintage with the title menu which uses the script font of the 1950s. A background emphasizes a high-class feeling in deep brown. The photograph of hamburger sandwiches is close photographed with a zoom lens. The both-sides side was irradiated with the stroboscope flash. Three cooking photographs on the back had a weak light. The logo design of beer was introduced last time. The client offered the menu, the explanatory note of cooking, and the dish. The price of the charge of photography is 1,000 yen per piece. It becomes 8,000 yen the charge of photography with eight photographs. The size of this menu is B4. The charge of design composition work changes to 10000 yen per one side in such volume. This charge is 28000 yen in the charge of block-copy creation, and photography cost. Separately, 3,000 yen was required of printing cost and lamination cost (six-set creation).

ASTRO:LOUNGE's Wooden Sign at Pasar Moon Festival

This is the signboard of ASTROLOUNGE made with the board of driftwood. This time, we opened a shop to the festival of an institution called PASAR MOON of Shimane Prefecture. I applied the paint to the board which became round with a white angle which flowed and reached. Since goods were the wife's handmade garments and miscellaneous goods, this signboard design was set to simple and natural SHABBY. The color of a lusterless background is very important. When there was much driftwood more, the signboard which becomes independent was able to be made. But, since it was lacking, it was hung by hemp cord on the tarp pole. It is written to the board of the bottom connected in Hemp cord as ASTROLOUNGE in katakana.

"RYPPLE" The New Brand

We started the new garments brand inspired from Grateful Dead. The name is "RYPPLE" from our favorite song "ripple". 1972 and 1973 is our birth year. We also like from 1972 to 1973 live performance and poster art of the Grateful Dead. Already I make some logo and sticker design. I introduce one of them.

Order Flyer "VINYL PASSION 3"

This is order flyer of the poptoonstudio created newly. A theme is black parson plays groove. The image of a 7-inch vinyl board has been arranged in the center. The logo imaged from 1970's Rock as classical and bold. Font  arranged from Letter Head Font's Boston Truck Style. I processed the curl part of this Boston Truck Style. "WILD WAX presents" and "for Dope Musik Lover ..." The font of used Copperplate Gothic. This flyer made from yellow and black 2 colors.
The client left all the designs to me. I was able to do work smoothly. It will succeed, if you want to change a hairstyle, and all are left to the hair designer having good sense.

DOPE EYE "GARCIA" 5.0oz Crew Rib T-Shirts

I designed this T-shirt for this summer. The name of a product is "Garcia." The origin of a name and a logo is from a fishing tackle maker of Sweden called ABU GARCIA. This logo was used from 1950s for the 1960s by ABU GARCIA. An original logo design is little bit differed. I loving  ABU Ambassadeur  reel and collecting. And he likes the logo in which ABU of this Sweden had put a company called GARCIA on the U.S. market as the agency. GARCIA went bankrupt late in the 1970s and it was purchased by ABU. I think ABU reel is the most wonderful and beautiful in the world. And respect Grateful Dead's vocal Jerry Garcia which is my God. And I fused ABU and Jerry. Usually, resist mark has been arranged at the place put on the lightning bolt. Printed lavender color is from Jerry Garcia's tie-dye T-shirts color. DOPE EYE 420 T-Shirts for SALE!!!

DOPE EYE 2011 Spring Logo

This is a logo for fresh spring of DOPE EYE. Amsterdam where a variety of dope items were able to be obtained was imaged. It is a script that treats an elegant magnificent scroll. Because the word put in the blank part was not found, "Mary Jane & Charlie Brown" or "AMSTERDAM" was put for the time being.

ELGALLO Blog Title Logo and Illustration

This is "elgallo"'s title logo and illustration of "elgallo" blog top. I made this title banner imaging Mexico. It is colorful, and shabby. The town lines with type 2 of Volkswagens and the rotted building, and the TV antenna of the utility pole stands out.

I can make the design of a top banner of such a blog (including illustration) from about $50.

HABIT STORE Decal

This decal design is for the humburger restaurant "HABIT STORE" in 2007. Written by bézier curve using Adobe Illustrator. This design was made based on the form of a character and the atmosphere in the 1960's. However, this work was not adopted to our regret by the client.

420 tours Decal

This is decal of walking tours of the best cannabis cafes in Amsterdam by name of "420 tours". There having a lot of cafes can be smoke the cannabis in legality in Amsterdam. It is a decal to do the guide and the tour that comes round walking in the cafe.

MARULA Flyer and Logo

This is my friend's apparel shop in Fukuoka Japan last. There were sell hemp clothings and some Japaanese hippie brand. They chiefly Tokyo Hemp Connection, PHATEE WARE, GRATEFUL DEAD and Skatebrands.

This design was motif requested from "Mexico" by the shop owner. Therefore, I arranged its coca leaves in four corners. And, peyote flower, cactus and mariachi were arranged. The logo of MARULA was made based on KALUHA of the coffee liqueur.

I made the clipping mask by passing the Photoshop. And, the logo was traced by the illustrator's vector drawing.
